What is Kava Kava (Piper Methysticum)

Kava Kava or scientifically known as piper methysticum is a sacred plant that has been grown and ceremonially consumed for hundreds of years on the Pacific islands. Renowned for it’s mildly sedative and euphoric effects it is drank mostly in celebration but is commonly used as a natural remedy for stress and anxiety. At Shipwreckers we use the world’s finest kava grown on the island of Vanuatu. In the South Pacific Vanuatu is known for producing the strongest and most potent kava. After the root of the plant is harvested and dried out we blend it into purified, filtered water. It is then hand squeeze it into a cold pressed tea to be consumed traditionally out of coconut shells or in one of our delicious specialty creations.
